Lead Teacher-Landry Early Childhood Center Details

The Lead Teacher is required to develop and implement Landry Early Childhood Center (LECC) curriculum in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the Center, NAEYC, and NHAEYC. The position requires seeking and utilizing resources to enhance the LECC curriculum and daily lessons plans.  The Lead Teacher will supervise LECC Teacher Assistants, as assigned.  It is expected that the Lead Teacher will participate in and facilitate annual professional development of self and staff, adhere to all licensing standards, as set forth by NAEYC and NHAEYC, and follow guidelines as required by the LECC/  The position reports to the LECC Director.

  • Supervise classroom and classroom teachers by encouraging team collaboration and collegiality through the delegation of duties
  • Oversee and participate in caring for the children's well-being and safety
  • Provide and create lesson plans, which stimulate the development of age appropriate cognitive and social skills, which include communication, emergent reading, writing, math, science, social studies, creative art, fine and gross motor development
  • Instruct preschool children, implementing and teaching Pre-Kindergarten Standards through appropriate activities in the classroom
  • Set-up and maintain an age-appropriate, center-based learning environment which meets the requirements of NAEYC Accreditation, as well as portfolio, curriculum and classroom assessments
  • Conduct teacher/parent conferences, as scheduled
  • Organized parent/teacher trainings or activities, as needed
  • Model attitudes, behaviors, and techniques which contribute to the overall harmonious operation of the program
  • Promote positive public relations with all contacts within and outside of the LECC
  • Participate in University committees and activities as appropriate or assigned

  • Associate's degree required in Early Childhood Education or related field with an additional Early Childhood endorsement
  • Three to five years  of Early Childhood Education classroom experience
  • Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Suite and Smart Boards
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to respond, make decisions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
  • Knowledge of NAEYC and NHAEYC accreditation requirements
